We welcome candidates with experience in customer service, health care/patient care, or candidates transitioning from other industries willing to learn and provide quality service. This position focuses on non-emergency medical transportation and we welcome candidates with all levels of experience.
Driver Roles and Responsibilities
- Must be able to report to work on-time, in a clean, neat uniform, ready to work. (Punctuality is key)
- Perform a vehicle pre-trip and post trip inspection on assigned vehicle.
- Operate assigned vehicle safely in all types of weather and traffic conditions, according to driver manifest, which includes designated pick-up and drop-off locations and times, issued daily.
- Pick up and drop off passengers at designated stops safely.
- Adhere to all regulations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to interact with our clients respectfully; provide transit information to passengers as needed.
- Maintaining a safe environment for passengers, including escorting riders to and from the vehicle and providing physical assistance to passengers, when requested.
- Report all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to the dispatch office immediately; submit written reports on accidents, incidents or unusual occurrences as required.
Requirements and Experience
- A valid Alabama driver’s license.
- Customer Service Experience is a plus.
- Comfortable working with the elderly and patients who may need assistance into and out of the vehicle.
- Must be 25 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass the pre-employment drug test.
- Possess good communication (written and verbal) and decision-making skills.
- Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule that may include some early mornings or late evenings.
Certifications that need to be completed before first day at work:
(Online courses provided by CARE Transit):
- First aid and CPR
- Defensive driving
- Passenger safety
Compensation and perks to our drivers:
- Regular Van starting rate:$12/hr
- Wheelchair Van starting rate:$13/hr
- Bonus based on overall performance.
